How many Advil can you take before you start foaming at the mouth?
I'm just wondering because I'm usually an Aleve user, and since the recent drug scare, I'm been sort of wary.
Although Advil is quite tasty indeed, it takes longer to kick in. And it wears off sooner.
I think I need to take another one.
Posted by Tiffany at January 4, 2005 12:37 PMWhat do you mean "quite tasty?" You're not supposed to suck on them like Tic Tacs, woman.
Maybe you should try some Bayer aspirin for women (with Calcium!) Not very tasty, though.

If I had a 6 hour period, I wouldn't need any Advil!
Sorry, that just slipped out.
Posted by: Jim at January 4, 2005 01:57 PMYou're probably safe with one every four hours. I've been an Aleve fan as well. I'm brokenhearted, I tell ya. :-)
Posted by: Kathleen at January 4, 2005 08:26 PMAleve is awesome and I loved Celebrex, too. I've stopped both. I've pretty much stopped all over the counter meds and stick just to my Rx's that I'm pretty sure are the least likely to kill me. Luckily I don't have headaches the way I used to when I was younger and getting a new mattress and losing a few pounds have helped with a lot of the aches and pains.
Really, what ARE you doing sucking on the Advil anyway?
Posted by: Momotrips at January 4, 2005 09:41 PM...I can't help it if they taste like red skittles. In my own defense, I've never sucked one down to find out what's beneath that candy shell.
Don't worry--I save my overmedicating for menthol coughdrops. :-)
Posted by: Tiffany at January 4, 2005 10:22 PMWhen I hurt my knee back in high school, my doctor told me I could take 4 200mg Advil if I had to, but I shouldn't do that more than once or twice a day.
I've never had to take more than 4 Advil in a 24 hour time period. That has almost always taken care of any pain I've ever had. And no foaming at the mouth to speak of!
Posted by: Michelle at January 5, 2005 02:09 AMGeneral rule of thumb - never take more pills than you can fit in one hand.
Anything less than that should be more or less OK :-)

Bwaha! Tic Tacs. Heh.
