So...I'm going to do it. I spoke about this some last year before my blownfuse.us archives went shitdizzle. For those of you who don't know the backstory I'll work on digging that out of my dinosaur laptop some time later.
I'm not excited.
I need to find out just how much this is going to cost me--my insurance is pretty shitactular (I have a $35 copay everytime I go to the doc). I may have to give up beer for a couple of months.
I've let Bossman know that I'm going to have a "procedure" done in the near future and left it at that.
I guess I can look forward to having a couple of days off of work, even if I will be miserable.
Posted by Tiffany at March 6, 2005 05:38 PMIt's not so bad. I had it done like 8 years ago and the worst part was the CO2 gas. Back then they didn't do as great of a job getting the gas OUT after the procedure so you had this horrible pain in your left shoulder from the pressure of the gas on your diaphragm (referred pain). Other than that the procedure was a breeze. I had my gall bladder out a year ago and it is basically the same procedure with the CO2 and all and I had no pain from the gas at all. Of course, I have a pretty high pain threshold, so your discomfort might be a little higher on the scale. They give you good drugs though - Vicodin. If anyone ever breaks into my house looking for drugs I'll actally have some to give them since I only used 1.
If nothing else, it's a great excuse to have Scott wait on you and bring you soup and crackers in bed, watch movies all weekend, blog in bed (under the influence - heh) and SLEEP. Also, if you're suffering from Endometriosis this is really the only way to get rid of it. You'll feel so much better afterward. Really.
Okay, now the part you may or may not want to hear...if you get pregnant pretty quickly afterward (within a year) supposedly the endometriosis is slowed significantly and sometimes doesn't come back - or at least less than before and your suffering is lessened. Getting pregnant cures a lot of "female problems" - it's the nine month surge of hormones or something. This doesn't do you much good if you've decided to stay child-free...
I hope all goes well. Keep us posted. Remember I'm a "fountain of knowledge" when it comes to female reproductive (and male for that matter) procedures...e-mail me if you ever need info. or support.

Posted by: Momotrips at March 6, 2005 06:46 PMI've never had that procedure done, but I have had the cryo procudure done where they freeze your uterus and the outer cells spend the next month sloughing off, making room for healthy cells. It pretty much felt like mild cramping for the healing period. If I were you, Tiffany, I really wouldn't worry too much about the pain afterwards... it CAN'T be worse than the excruciating pain that you already feel each month because of your condition... You'll breeze through it no problem. :)
Posted by: Jolene at March 7, 2005 09:22 AMI've had a procedure done where they froze off abnormal cells of the cervix. It really wasn't so bad - I was sort of achey and fatigued afterwards. Just be stocked up on books, magazines, DVDS, ice cream and a nice, cozy afghan to treat yourself right, girl.
