"Blue Light Special on Support Garments - Aisle 2"

I need to join a gym.

While I'm genetically predisposed to have more thigh than boob, things are starting to jiggle and it makes me feel self-conscious. That, and I'm sure the lupron shots are running a downhill race against the yoga and pilates I do every couple of days. Hellllooooooo, Estrogen.

I'm sure that joining a gym will make me feel all the more self-conscious because there will be so many body-vain people in there that I would just feel less than.

I would have to get up and go reeeeeally early in the morning so that no one would see me. Or is that when everyone else goes?

Damn. I don't want to look hot in a bathing suit or anything, I just want my curves to be where they're supposed to.

Are any of you members of one of those franchise gyms? Are you getting your money's worth?

I've belonged to gyms off-and-on but found I prefer to run outdoors around my own 'hood and I just use push-ups and free weights at home for the rest. Even when there was a free military gym just blocks from my house, I didn't go there very often. You don't need to worry though--there are lots more out-of-shape folks who are "working on it" than hot folks in most gyms. Unless, of course, you join a high-priced, snooty gym where they network as much as workout.

My cousin joined Gold's Gym a couple of months ago and she got me a free pass for a week. I was a little nervous going into it, but I am glad I did it. I am not overweight but I am not as thin as I would like to be. To my surprise everybody in there (besides the handfull of skinny girls) was in the same boat I was in. I got a kick outta watching the skinny people watch themselves in the mirrored wall while they worked out. I saw a few people that I knew (that sexy waiter from Applebee's has biceps that'll make you melt) and I thought I would be embarassed, but I wasn't. I think it helped that I had a partner-in-crime. She motivated me when I was sore from lifting weights and applauded me when I lost 5 pounds. I say go for it.
