Sherk, sherk. BLlllOOOOpp!

I've been a very busy lady this week. My assistant is vacationing (must be nice) and so I'm up to my hoo-ha in paperwork that my missing sidekick normally does.

I thought I'd transcended beyond these menial tasks. *sigh*

Anyway. In addition to having an inbox full of résumés to scan for potential employees, we've been interviewing a slew of people for various positions. I guess I should add "part-time go-for and minimum-wage flunky" to that list of personnel needs.

Every time a potential hire comes through the door I have to stop what I'm doing to administer tests, make introductions, and so forth. It takes me at least ten minutes to get back into my work flow and then another person comes in. Rinse. Repeat.

To make matters worse Bossman is taking vacation tomorrow and rather than delegating tasks to the more tenured people on staff he leaves the office operations in charge of the person who has been working there for less than three months (and has already taken more vacation time than me).

*covers eyes with hand and shakes head*

Not only is it ridiculous to put such a task in the hands of someone who spends 60% of the day consulting with everyone else in the office about what s/he should be doing, but it's downright insulting to everyone else who does know what they're doing. ... And someone who doesn't always make it into the office in time for the morning meeting.

Whatever. Basically, if s/he wasn't there no one would do anything. Since s/he will be there the only thing that will be different is that we'll do our "Take this Job and Shove it" bitching when s/he's out to lunch instead of throughout the day. I hate spies.

The very worst thing is that one of Bossman's sons (the one that has been there since the business opened) started his vacation last Thursday and failed to complete a project before he left. All the ends he was supposed to tie up have wiggled out of control. Irate people are calling in for status reports and we know nothing. Because he's done nothing. Today I took matters into my own hands and had the assignment reassigned to someone else with apologies to all those people. Son-of-Bossman stopped in for about ten minutes today between one vacation trip and the next. He didn't check his phone messages (his phone message light was flashing right in his face) or his e-mail although he stated quite clearly that he would be in the office working today. Now we hear that he's going on a THIRD vacation trip right after this one. And then he goes back to school on the 16th.

You can basically surmise what that means: the irresponsible little shit won't be coming back to work. Thanks a lot for creating a world of inconvenience for the rest of us, you fuckhead. I'm extremely pissed because this project could have been done already and we look like complete nincompoops.

So, that's my week so far.

How's yours? :)
