Bossman has given me the goahead to hire another office assistant since one hasn't set foot into the office since November and the other is working about 8 hours a week. Ideally, I'd like to have someone there for 30 hours for phone coverage and such.
Since one certain asshole has alerady requisitioned my current assistants, where this will become uncomfortable is when the certain asshole will not be invited to interview them. The thought makes me extremely giddy.
Short-term, this will create additional work for me as I need to create new organization charts and formal job descriptions before we add any more staff. (Apparently our business insurance requires this...we usually just check the little "yes" box when they ask, but I get the feeling I should cover my bases this time.) Corporate's job descriptions don't include administrative staff, so I'm inventing the wheel.
What I need (this feels like de ja vu) is some smart kid who'd work for $6 an hour that knows how to format a business letter and type 60 wpm...ideally someone who can work with little supervision (which is a rare bird in the $5.15 - $7.00/hr set). Although the new hire would have less tenure than the other assistants, they would be working more hours and therefore would be more knowledgeable sooner than the other two....which would require me to lavish them with favor.
I hope this doesn't turn into a clusterfuck.
