Tick tock tick tock.

I spend a good amount of time stalking the local mommy forums. There are a few people who are due about the same time as me (week of Thanksgiving). What I've really been watching, though, are the people who are due a couple of weeks before me. They're sort of serving as my red flag warnings that I need to get some stuff done.

There was a woman who was due three weeks ahead of me that went into labor two weeks early last night. When she posted her little announcement that her water had broken and she was on the way to the hospital, I am sure that I was panicking more than she was.

Everyone who is expecting on the forums talks about what little things they'll buy like crib mobiles and brands of diaper rash cream. We have bought neither a crib nor a surface on which to apply cream to baby's rash. It seems these ladies have had nursery furniture ever since that first ultrasound where a technician told them they would either be having a kid that peed sitting or standing.

Back in the day when I was employed and thinking about buying this stuff, I felt like I would be jinxing the pregnancy if I purchased anything too early. Doesn't help that the husband is a chronic procrastinator, either. (You know it's true, so don't even try coming up with a retort for that one.)

Look at me now. Woo hoo.

So you'll be buying a crib on the way to the hospital, then? ;)
