Nickeled and Dimed

Is anyone else considering jumping ship from Netflix? I've become complacent and don't really want to make a move, but I see several other services that allow the same amount of DVDs out for quite a bit less.

They need to catch up.

Buy DVDs! For new movies, if you're interested enough to rent, aren't you interested enough to own? And for old(er) movies, if you remember them, why not own them? My recent DVD purchases...Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Big Top Pee-Wee and Dead Poet's Society.

I'm just fond of Netflix which makes the switch harder for me :-/.

Unlike Michael (^), I don't like purchasing movies. After the first viewing, rarely will I watch the same movie multiple times. Unless of course it's The Karate Kid... my all-time favorite movie :).

Hmm... You can try Blockbuster Online, but their service varies widely depending on location. I try and report on how these guys are doing, and I'm seeing Netflix, with a few problems, still ahead for now.

I am also thinking about jumping the ship from Netflix to another service. It takes me a WEEK to get DVDs now and there's a shipment center in Atlanta! I've been looking at GreenCine; they carry more indie flicks and anime, which is really the only thing I was renting from Netflix in the first place. They also do Saturday processing and carry NC-17 and adult titles.

Umm...not like I'd want those...you know...*ahem*

We've been thinking about dumping it and not getting another service. We sit on movies for a month at a time before we finally get around to watching them.

I like buying them more anyway.

My deal with purchasing movies is that a) I have to see it once, and b) I have to love it. I'll occasionally buy a classic that I haven't seen if it's under ten bucks, but newer movies just don't turn me on...so I need a preview.
