Happy birthblahblahblah

Tomorrow is Bossman's birthday. Everyone has been all hush-hush about what we should do, how, and who should pay for it, however there is a general consensus that we would do something.

We've decided that we should take him out to lunch to a place where he hasn't been before...but since Bossman and sons live in the immediate area, I'm quite certain that they've frequented EVERY eatery in Brier Creek at least 20 times with the exception of the cafe in Barnes and Noble. I need to find some decent place before tomorrow (other than my own kitchen which is currently lined in cat fluff).

There was also some mumbling on whether we should get him a gift. He evidently likes those little trashy gifts ("World's Best Boss" coffee mugs, et al) that brownnosers at other companies bought for him. Hat Guy said that he would go to Dick's and get him a poker table since that was his new hobby and that we could all chip in for it. Great.

I'll say this - I will not sing the birthday song. I refuse. I always find that to be embarrassing for myself AND anyone who has to hear it.

What do you folks do for coworkers' birthdays, if anything?

I told Hat Guy I'd make him a cake (his birthday is Friday) and he told me, pitifully, that no one had ever bothered to make him a cake before. I told him that just fort that, I'd use real butter.

We all chip in $5 to have lunch brought in and we sign a card.

This post just reminded me that today is one of my co-workers birthday. I've spoken to him twice today and forgot to wish him a Happy Birthday.

*makes phone call*

I'll run out to the store and buy him one of those "from all of us" cards and an 8 inch decorated cake too!
