So...if you have a cup on your desk with supplies like scissors and pens in it which happens to be your own personal cup and your on personal supplies, do people have the right to steal pens from it if it is sitting on desk belonging to the business?

Discuss amongst yourselves while I go bitchsmack the person that stole the last gel pen.

Um, HELL no, they don't have that right. I hate when people try to steal nice pens. Use your own crappy pens please, or buy yourself some nicer ones.

You could do like they do at stores, tape a huge obnoxious flower or a plastic spoon to your pens. Maybe tape a cardboard sign to each pen that says, "I stole this pen" on one side and "I'm a no-good thief" on the other.

Not the gel pen. Hell naw.

Allow me to add one more HELL NO to the comments!

It happens to me quite frequently though. That's why I put all the raggedy, almost out of ink pens in my cup and keep my favorite Pilot gel pens in my drawer.

Good article. Very interesting and useful. Thanks.

No.

However, if your office provides office supplies (like pens), it's understandable that people would assume that the pens are "fair game" for use.

Take MsThing's advice and use decoys while hiding your good pens.

The alternative is trying to teach everyone that you're the "selfish pen lady" and that your shit is not to be touched.

It CAN be done, but it's your call whether it's worth the bother.
