Back to the Grind

After two weeks with Mondays off, I went into this week dreading the fact that it has five days. I woke up at 5 am for no reason whatsoever. I just couldn't sleep any more. I got up and had a bowl of fruity pebbles and made it into work by 6:40. The few extra minutes was quite helpful in getting the day off to a positive start. Normally, by 8 o'clock or so when the recruiters start falling through the door, my mood has gone way south. By the way - have I mentioned that since the new expansion space door was installed, the gun safe that used to be on that wall where the door is is now IN FRONT OF MY FUCKING DESK BLOCKING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT????

I've also cut way back on my caffeine intake. I was drinking two or three 6-oz cups of coffee each day in addition to however many Diet Cokes I needed to wash my food down. Now I'm down to a couple of cups of hot tea each day. [Instant tea has about 30 mg of caffeine per serving compared to about 100 for a cup of coffee].

For the first week ago, I was snapping off anyone's head should they dare present me with work to do that they could have done themselves. I was pretty laid back today - I'm proud of myself.

Bossman decided last week that the entire office will be going to the regional conference next month. While I like the idea of doing something out of the ordinary, the idea of being in an 12-passenger van for 2 1/2 hours two ways with a bunch of salespeople who can't shut up really sort of puts a damper on things. Normally, when I get in a vehicle (that I'm not driving), after 30 minutes or so I pass out. I wake up when someone brakes hard or passes a Bojangles. Frankly, I'd rather stay at the office and answer the phone (as much as I hate THAT). At least I'd get some work done with them all gone.

Didn't you post about having some exercise equipment taking up room next to your desk, too? What is that, their dumping site?
