Is it ever possible that people can get so used to having a lot of money that they forget how much things cost?
I'm not getting paid commensurate with my education and experience, this much is true, however I knew it was a start-up business and had to take my punches. BUT, at what point did Bossman start thinking that he pays me enough? I mean, he pays his 20-year-old uneducated kid about 20% more than me and he lives at home.
I have a mortgage and property taxes to pay--and I pay my share. I'm not just here working to "get out of the house."
The only reason I'm pondering all this is because yesterday in one of those forced-conversation moments Bossman commented something along the lines of, "I bet you're going to buy that kitchen floor now!"
This was in reference to bonuses being paid.
Let me tell you something about my bonus. It's on the low three-digit end. Very low considering taxes. It's just enough to take one romp at the grocery store and buy myself a new pair of fat pants.
I think my response to him on that was "Heh."
I'm sorry, am I making more money than I realize and didn't know it?
Oops.
